The current Ateneu Tătăraşi was built near the place where the old Ateneu Popular, founded in 1919, immediately after the Great Union, operated. The old Athenaeum in Tătăraşi , especially in the interwar period, was a real cultural focus, but also an ambassador of the cultural unity of the Romanians.

The old Athenaeum was structured in sections, which included the treatment of an extremely vast problem: the cultural-educational section, the artistic section, the physical education, the economic-municipal section and the philanthropic section. The Athenian excursions, the M. Musicescu Choir, the cinema, the theater hall remained in the memory of the Tatar descendants for eternity.
